The Story Behind Shift Digital

Hey there. Welcome.

If you stumbled onto this page, chances are you’re either running a business here in Sarawak, helping out with a family company, or just wondering what on earth a “digital workspace” is supposed to mean for regular folks like us.

Let’s be honest for a second.

Everywhere you look right now, people are talking about PCDS 2030 and turning Sarawak into a booming digital economy. There are big infrastructure projects, grand speeches, and high-tech buzzwords floating around everywhere.

But if you step away from the corporate boardrooms and look inside the average local business—whether it’s a hardware trading shop in Bintulu, a contractor in Miri, or a busy café in Kuching—the daily reality looks a bit different.

Behind the scenes, many of our hardworking local businesses are running on pure adrenaline. We’re talking about endless WhatsApp groups that never sleep, missing paper receipts, expired photo download links, and that classic, frantic phrase: “Eh, I think that file is saved on the office desktop, but I’m already at home.”

It’s exhausting. And that is exactly why shiftdigital.my exists.

We Aren't Here to Sell You Anything. Seriously.

We aren’t software salesmen, and we aren’t here to dump a mountain of expensive tech jargon on your lap.

We believe that modernizing your business shouldn’t be scary, painful, or bankrupting. It’s not about buying the flashiest, most complicated system on the market. It’s simply about changing how we handle our daily routines so we can reclaim our weekends, lower our stress levels, and run things smoothly without losing our minds.

So, instead of boring technical manuals, we share stories.

We write short, slice-of-life, slightly dramatic episodes about characters we all know—local bosses, overwhelmed clerks, and next-gen kids—facing everyday business chaos, and how a few simple digital tweaks quietly save the day.

"But I’m Not a Tech Person..."

We hear this all the time, and we get it. If you feel a bit reluctant or overwhelmed by all this IT stuff, let us set your mind at ease. We are starting this journey using Google Workspace for a very specific reason: you probably already know how to use most of it.

  • Age is just a number: If you know how to send an email on Gmail, watch a video on YouTube, or scan a DuitNow QR code for your laksa, congratulations—you already have 90% of the skills you need. Google Workspace uses the exact same technology you already use in your personal life.

  • No IT background required: You don’t need a computer science degree to share a folder or type a document. Google’s tools are built for regular human beings. If you can use a smartphone, you can run your business from the cloud.

  • The absolute minimum to start? Just curiosity: You don’t need a fleet of shiny new laptops, expensive servers, or a massive tech budget. All you really need to make a “shift” is an internet connection, your current phone or computer, and the willingness to ask, “Is there an easier way to do this?”

Let's Make the Shift Together

This blog is a cozy, zero-pressure corner of the internet. We’re going to show you how everyday tools like Gmail, Google Drive, and Docs can quietly untangle the chaotic knots in your business.

It’s for the overwhelmed boss who wants their life back, the next-generation son or daughter trying to gently upgrade the family company without upsetting the elders, and anyone who is simply curious about the future.

Sarawak is moving forward, and our local businesses shouldn’t be left behind just because the tech world speaks a complicated language.

Grab a coffee, read a story or two, and let’s figure out how to make your daily business life a whole lot easier—one small shift at a time.
